Editorial Policy
How content here is produced, sourced, reviewed and corrected — and the claims we will never make.
Last reviewed
Independence
Commercial relationships never determine a recommendation on Loomandl & Ing. No brand pays for placement here, no brand reviews a page before it publishes, and no brand has any input into what we write about a product. Our only revenue is affiliate commission, and a page's ordering is decided before anyone looks at what it earns.
Where the right answer for a reader is a product we earn nothing on, it still goes first and the page says so. That happens on this site and it will keep happening.
Authorship
Every article, guide, comparison and roundup on this site is written under the byline Janet H.. There is no anonymous "editorial team" and no ghost byline. The hands-on owner behind Janet Media Group.
We do not claim credentials we do not hold. There is no certification, no degree and no trade qualification behind this site, and we will not invent one — a credential that can be checked and found not to exist does more damage than having none.
Claims we never make
This site has not physically tested any rug, so the following will not appear anywhere on it:
- "We tested" / "in our testing" / "after X months of testing"
- "Our lab" / "lab-tested" / "expert-tested"
- "We measured" a specification we read on a manufacturer's page
- A first-person anecdote about a rug nobody here owns
- Any invented star rating, review count or award
- Any price we have not verified from a live source
What we write instead is what is actually true: "the manufacturer lists the pile at 8mm", "owners consistently report it holding up in a hallway", "we compared twelve outdoor rugs on published specifications and fiber construction". The method is set out in how we choose.
Sourcing
- Every factual claim gets a source. Fiber properties, care instructions, durability characteristics, safety claims.
- Source preference, in order: manufacturer specification or official care instruction; a recognized textile or trade authority; a named expert quoted with attribution; aggregated owner reports, labeled as exactly that.
- We cite inline, plus a Sources block at the foot of pages making technical claims.
- We never cite from memory. If a claim cannot be sourced, it does not ship — we write around it.
- We never present an aggregated owner report as first-hand observation. "Owners frequently report..." is accurate. "We found..." is not.
What we do not publish about ourselves
There are no customer reviews or testimonials of Loomandl & Ing anywhere on this site, because none exist. We will not write them, solicit fabricated ones, or display star ratings representing an opinion of this site that nobody has given. Product pages carry our editorial assessment and clearly label it as such.
Prices
Prices change constantly and a stale price is worse than no price, because it reads as authoritative while being wrong. Where we cannot verify a live price, the page says "Check price on Amazon". Where a live price does render, it carries the date it was checked, and it disappears on its own once it is more than 48 hours old rather than quietly aging on the page.
Images
Photographs on this site are licensed stock images illustrating the rug type being discussed. They are not manufacturer photography of the specific product and they are labeled as illustrative wherever they appear beside a named product. We do not present a stock photograph as evidence of a specific rug's appearance.
Updates and corrections
Every page displays a visible "Last reviewed" date and is re-checked on the cadence in how we choose. When we find an error, or a reader reports one, we correct the page and update its date rather than editing it silently. Substantive corrections are noted on the page.
To report an error, email janet.hoyo@yahoo.com or use the contact form. Include the page and what is wrong; that is all we need.
